Welcome to PAMAROSA POND MINIATURE DONKEYS owned and operated by Pam and Ron Boufford in Chino Valley , Arizona .  We are located in beautiful central Arizona , in a growing farm community 16 miles north of the historic town of Prescott, AZ and 85 miles from Flagstaff , AZ.

Several years ago we saw our first picture of a Miniature Mediterranean donkey and it was love at first sight.  We did a lot of research and learning before purchasing our first donkey.

We determined that we really wanted to be breeders and sought the advice of numerous breeders, books and yes, even the internet.  We purchased our Jack “My World Sparky” because of his wonderful conformation, size and disposition.  We then proceeded in finding jennets that we thought would compliment his characteristics.  We found our girls in Texas and Wyoming . We have continued our search and finally feel we have the base for a wonderful breeding program. We are currently in our fourth year with six wonderful foals having been born. We have been pleased with our babies and have worked hard to make sure that they are the best that can be. We are now looking forward to our 2006 and 2007 foaling seasons.

We are situated on 7 ˝ acres of agricultural land which allows us plenty of room for our herd of Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys.  We built our barn and fenced our pastures to allow our herd plenty of room to roam.  Our main barn has several stalls with large covered areas and includes a tack room and hay room. We installed ceiling fans to help with summer cooling and fly relief as well as heat lamps for winter weather.  Each pasture has a three sided loafing shed with a roof; most are 12’ x 12’ allowing room for several to have cover and are turned away from prevailing winds.  We also installed heated water buckets so we are not breaking ice in winter weather.

Our herd size is purposely kept at about 15 head, this allows us to closely bond with all our donkeys and spend quality time with each animal daily.  It also affords us the luxury of checking each animal’s condition and giving individual attention with lots of love and scratching for everyone.  We also spend a great deal of time imprinting our foals from birth, making sure they are interested in humans and will be social creatures.  A donkey is a social herd equine that loves attention, greeting you at the gate, always interested in what you are doing and following you around.  They should never be kept alone without a companion.  A lonely donkey is not a happy donkey!!

Finally, we would like to thank all of the wonderful people that helped us achieve our goals as a breeder. And for those of you visiting our website, we hope you will visit us frequently, talk with us about your dreams of donkey ownership, ask questions and make a donkey part of your life…. you will never regret your decision!!

Many Brays for stopping by,

                                                                        Pam & Ron Boufford
